New 7 Wonders of Nature

The Puerto Princesa Underground River (PPUR) was officially recognized as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature on November 11, 2011, highlighting its global significance and natural beauty. This prestigious designation placed the PPUR alongside some of the world’s most iconic natural sites, including the Amazon Rainforest in South America, Halong Bay in Vietnam, Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil, Jeju Island in South Korea, Komodo Island in Indonesia, and Table Mountain in South Africa.
Being included in this distinguished list not only elevated the international profile of the PPUR but also emphasized the importance of its conservation, sustainable tourism, and ecological protection. The recognition continues to inspire global and local efforts to preserve the park’s unique underground river system, limestone karst formations, and rich biodiversity for generations to come.
